Hey guys Sorry I have slacked on this blog quite a bit- crazy holidays!! It doesn't help that I have had the flu- it was a killer but quick with a lot of help from my magic moon tonic :) and of course my sweet hubby and mom and sis!
Here is a fun ruffle bed skirt tutorial from little cherry blossoms! She has a lot of other fun ones on there too and a giveaway right after this post so check them out- HEREI am working on some vintage sweater and lace legs and lace boot cuffs for little cherry blossoms this week so go stock up for Christmas! They are my favorite accessory to put on indie and so fun on the older girls- they add so much to any little dress or skirt or leggings! For those out of area I don't think I will be able to add more before Christmas to my Etsy store- sorry they seem to get sold before I can add them- if you are in dire need email me and I will see what I can do! :)

So many ideas in my head for ruffle legs and leg warmers- trying to sew them all is another story! :) I opened my Etsy store back up-lots of fun styles and many more I need to add- here are a few picts.. Really loving the big chunky sweatery ones ( is that a word?) on Bella

I am also making boot socks for kids- with a little twist so the socks don't need to be so long- Gracie is wearing them here- hopefully I will have a stash ready soon ! :)

Cupcake towers may well be the next big thing for wedding cakes! It is so EXqUisiTe- ( we may be a bit biased)-ANyways it consists of a huge ( 4 ft at least) tall white antiqued iron tower full of cupcakes- what could be better!!! the Tower is so unique - can't say I have seen many towers around lately AND lots better than all that left over wedding cake no body wants to eat- why not have lots of cupcakes instead!!! Most people use the Tower as there Wedding cake..

The Cupcake Tower consists of 60- 70 mini cupcakes placed and sat and settled all over the tower and on stands mixed in and 10-12 JUMBOS sprinkled through out. You can choose 2-3 flavors for your mixture

( the picts above were made differently based on the customers request- they do not show the jumbos mixed in FYI)

Jen and I got invited to the funnest thing ever!!! The 365 SWAP! Here are some picts or you can check out studio 5 thursday may 12th at 11am - don't expect to see me though I was totally dodging Mr. camera man!I brought some fun stuff home but honestly i would not have cared if I came home empty handed! It was just so fun to BE there! The garlands, the decorations, the chalk board, the food, the people! So FUn! We here at the Watson home just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU!!!! Thank you so much for all your help and support with the Bike-a-Thon!!! The girls were able to raise almost 500$ for the kids in Ghana and Togo Africa between the Bike a thon and the bake sale! You guys are great!!! We decided that this will be an annual event so look for the Bike a Thon and Bake sale next year! Here are some picts- I took a ton- if you were there and want your picture let me know and I will email them to ya! We also want to say THANKS to FARR WEST CITY- they went the extra mile and helped out a ton, HARMONS for the yummy oranges and GREAT HARVEST for the yummy bread!

Meet at the bowery by the Farr west park -(1896 N 1800 W- by the rec center) - we are closing off half of the parking lot and doing 5 loops around the park so it is a good distance for toddler, kids, dad, mom, grandma or everything in between. EVERYONE is Welcome- Bikers, skaters, strollers, skateboards, walkers - however you want to do it! 100% of everything earned goes to our PEACE PAL friends in Ghana and Togo Africa. We are trying to get all the kids mosquito nets. Did you know that by the time you have read this a child in Africa has died from malaria- and the BEST method of prevention is a simple mosquito net!

Beck turned 3 last week!!! I can't even believe it! Beck is so so so much fun!!! He makes us laugh ALL day long! He is so creative and has such a witty sense of humor! He is so smart, kind and loving. I get little kisses all day long and He saves us from DrAGONS and SHARKS all day long :) you simply can't help but be in a good mood when you are around this little guy! He is the best little man and we love him so much! :)

Spring Market and Ruffle legs!

We only do a handful of boutiques through the year and this is one of the best ones! The Scraps of Simplicity Spring Market is April 16th so mark it in your calendar now- I promise~ you do not want to miss this! :) We have some eclectic flavors we are working on- And I have finally succeeded in a somewhat healthy cupcake!! ( cheers heard around the globe). So it is our same yummy batter but with less fat AND 3 cups of spinach and 1/2 cup wheat bran! I got the idea from a veggie class I did- we made brownies like this and they were super tasty!!! So we will be premiering some of those at the market too- finally you CAN have your cupcake and eat it too! :)

In the meantime if you have a hankering for some yummy cupcakes before April 16 give us a call!

Now onto other things non cupcake....I have been playing around with my little ruffle legs- they are so fun and add a little bit of spunk to your skirts, dresses etc.. I am trying to make up a bunch for the market ( ages newborn- up to 6- or older if you want that is just what I have made) and starting back up my Etsy shop soon! I am also currently consumed with screen printing cool shirts because I feel like there is lack there of lately :) I am getting my shirts from Alternative Apparel-they have burnout shirts and those soft worn out vintage t's- LOVE them! :) So hopefully I will have some of those up and running soon too!

This year I put a little more effort into it- last year we just drew stuff out of a box the girls had decorated which was still fantastic-but this year I got some inspiration and made a fun little banner they pick out of each

Bella and Gracie will be selling WHIMSY cupcakes- 1.50$ ( minis ) and hot cocoa- 0.50 and peace pal bracelets 5$ -( made by fair trade project in peru- sanyork and they are really nice! ) They have made a goal to sell 100 bracelets by April. They are also planning a bikathon for spring and a couple other events but come get one this week!

Here is her debut!!! :) She is just so wonderful!!! She is so much fun and the kids are absolutely OVER THE MOON about her ( as well as her parents!) Here are a few shots- I am sure there will be many more to come! :)

And what is it about little girls that makes me go craft crazy??? Now I just want to make a million things! So these are one of my many new obsessions- ruffle legs!!! My friend gave me the idea and now my brain will not stop thinking of all the possibillities- like now I am figuring out how to make them for my older girls- and they look so cute on!!!

Most all of our supplies- butter, sugar, flour, madagasscar vanilla, boxes, liners etc.. have gone up-at least 30% so as much as we do not want to raise prices we have to and it is with MUCH regret!!!! We are also offering standard size cupcakes too- you could always get them but now they are officially on the menu! If you have already made an order- no worries your price is the old one but any orders made today and on have the new prices-

Garden Patch Cakelet Pan

( yes I said cakelet)

We have had many birthday celebrations around here and it has been so fun! Gracie wanted a sandcastle cake for her party and it turned out really cute! when I load up picts I will share but it had lots of cookie sand, white chocolate sea shells and ice cream cones for towers! She also wanted to take some of these veggie cakelets to another little party ( she has had a few!!) and I had to share because I LOVE lOVE lOVE this pan!!! They are so delightful and perfect for spring and summer parties! You could make them out of zucchini cake to boot! I added crushed oreos for dirt and they were so fun!!! ( no mine did not look THIS great but they still passed- just no picts :)

Here is a recipe from all recipes that looks pretty good! I added some side notes to make it healthier ( of course) but still rather yummy!

Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour ( can also use wonder flour mix)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
3 eggs
2 cups white sugar ( or agave)
3 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup vegetable oil ( or applesauce)
3 cups grated zucchini
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Sift together flour, salt, soda, cinnamon, baking powder.
Beat eggs. Add and mix well sugar, vanilla, and oil. Add zucchini to egg mixture. Add dry ingredients, mixing well. Stir in nuts if desired. Pour into 2 ungreased loaf pans.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 1 hour.

I have also tried some with added lemon zest and it is equally fabulous ! I am sure there is no shortage of zucchini out there!

I can't believe she is almost 5!!

Let them get dressed up and wear PEARLS and as many Girly and Frilly things you can find and take pictures all day long! :) This was sooo fun! And she looks so old!!! It makes me so sad! She is going to have a SMASHING fun pool party!

Ruffled Streamers???

OK this party had ALL the Fixins! WHAT A FUN PARTY!!! I think the twins had fun too as you can see! There were so many little details that stood out about this party- she thought of everything!! BUT I LOvED the ruffled streamers~ and so easy! Tutorial HERE from shelley at How does she.. they just add that extra little touch for a sweet little girls party, or shower or whatever!!!

Here she layered them behind the banner- LOve that lOok!

SHE THOUGHT OF IT ALL!!!

I am in party mode around here since Gracies 5th birthday is in August! SHe wants a water party so it will be a bit different from this one but I may have to throw in a touch of this here and there. - Can't resist! We are taking picts soon for her invite- kind of a tradition now. I am thinking of a swim shoot with a vintage swim cap and swim suit.. you know the flowery ones like this..

She and I are both so excited!!! Can't WAit!

Ps.. If you haven't hung around long enough to listen the the last of the playlist skip down and take a listen to Mr. Greg Laswell- Schulyer Fisk, Kate bush to name a few- all very fantastic! Infact I recommend shuffle- you get a little taste of it all- quite the marvelous eclectic mix! I may be biased but I think OUR cupcakes AND playlist are superb and yes even unrivaled! :) like I said I may be a little biased ( but they are...)

My Kiddos Have been DYING to have a lemonade stand but with the rain and all we decided it may not be the best day for business! But be on the look out- summer will not escape with out a few stands going up and some homemade lemonade being sold!

How fun are these bottles of homemade lemonade- cute party favor OR what a great fathers day gift with a personalized label! :) Check it out HERE from Jordan Ferney- she needs to be on your blog list because she has fabulous ideas!!! The bottles are from Ikea- and if you head down there plan on a few days- at least- Love that place!!! :) I can personally recommend the indoor swing -although not for pregnant belly's... little hard to get out of, nonetheless definately a hit in our abode!

I have been looking for a tutorial for crib sheets for YEARS!!!! I always thought -hey I could make these- they don't look so bad! but I never could find a pattern or tutorial until NOW!!! so I thought I would share the love- and I was right- they are NOT that hard! I love having fun crib sheets and I am sure the babes will too! :) PS... Yes not only does this blog now contain yummy Whimsy stuff but a smattering of many other assorted items as well- especially baby things as of late... we are pretty excited and it has been 100% guaranteed it is a sweet little GIRL whom will joyfully be called Indie. We are all besides ourself with Merriment and Delight!

OK on to the tutorial which you can find HERE. Dana is sooo creative and has MANY other fun things also so peruse through and ENJOY!!! oh and Don't you just LOVE this lime green crib!!! Indies might need to be madeover- after all it has withstood 3 other siblings 2 of them whom like to chew... :) I think lime green or a vintage turquoise could cover those marks just fine!

Just THINK of the possibilities!!!! Can't wait to start sewing!

Spring Time??

Well I THOUGHT it was May- almost June- you know warm weather, eating peas in the pod right out of the garden, sunshine and swings and such but maybe I was wrong with all this awful weather! I BARELY got my Peas planted and bunch of other stuff before this rain storm - which now I am really glad for :)- but please NO MORE SNOW I want tomatoes before September!!!!! Here is a fun idea from Jordan Ferney- she has a ton of fun ideas- one for tulle and chiffon flowers no less!!! Step by step directions here. So go make your fun colorful mobile if by chance it is spring where you live or you are just wishing like me! :)

VELLUM MOBILES- cute for a babies room too!

This bright and modern mobile project is perfect for a daytime wedding reception or shower accompanied by Whimsy cupcakes of course! It will transform the room and make a big impact!

I think you could use card stock also- Have fun!

I must say I LOVE EASTER/CONFERENCE weekend! We go to easter hunts and then stay home all day and chill- listen to conference and make homemade cinnamon rolls- it is a fab tradition!. As always Conference was the best and we still get more- yeah!

Bella will be 6 soon- this is how her invites turned out! She loves them!

This one is for her friend party- her first one and she is giddy! :) It will be complete with tea party's, princess dresses, lots of tulle, fun games and pedicures and all things girl!

She can't wait!!!

And this one is for our family party- she is rather stoked for this as well. I started this tradition of letting them pick what kind of cake they wanted- last year it was princess and the pea- and I must say I was very proud of my creation! Luckily this year she wants a Soccer Ball-

Good I can do that in much less than 8 hours! :)

Bella is turning 6 shortly and we had to go take picts for her birthday- naturally. I have had these fantastic ideas taking up space in my head of how I wanted the picts to be and Jessie my sis in law who does AMAZING photos just so happened to snag this rather FABULOUS chair and was dying to take picts with it- and it just so happened to be in my visions! SO we set out to this cool road I used to play on as a kid- In-fact the old tree house is still there where many a scheme has been hatched- tempting all the kids with its rusty nails and jagged edges! those only make it funner right? I am so excited to get Jessie's- they will be like 1000 times better :)

APril FOols Day is Thursday!!! At our abode we LOve to pull little pranks on each other- HEre are some fun Cupcake ideas!!!- These come from the book Hello Cupcake! BUt Mrs. Martha Stewart also has instructions on her web site here ( thanks for the lesson!)

TV DINNER- this is one TV dinner I might actually try!

Mashed potatoes- FOodART! These Look so real and not that hard at all!

April is a busy month for us! But before I tell you all about the delightful soirees we will be attending I have other news- I know this week is full of news! :) we have our menu on here but then we post and it gets lost so there is a link at the top of everything to whimsymenu.blogspot.com- that blog is soley for our menu and ordering info- how it works and how to get ahold of us etc..- hopefully that makes it easier for everyone! We are hoping to get picts of all the flavors but that will come with time! :)

Now to the good stuff- We are doing 2 FABULOUS Spring Markets- so of course we will not be taking orders during those days BUT you can always stop by grab a nice variety!!!

Scraps of Simplicity is Infamous around these parts- THE PLACE for unique and antiqued pieces of furniture, frames, baskets, and as always lots of fun crafts, clothes, bows etc.. and OF course CUPCAKES!!!! During the market is really the only time you can buy one cupcake or 24- all different flavors- come take advantage!! We will also have some tubs of frosting for sell- this is the only time we do this- you can't call and just order frosting :) so stock up!

And just so you know- we usually sell out by 3 so get there early!!! Breakfast at Tiffany's is usually gone by 11:30- no matter HOW many we make!

Well we finally told our families so now I guess I better tell you!! :) Besides it is much easier you know than wonder is she OR has she been eating too many cupcakes???? I am 14 weeks so I am right in that lovely gray area of pregnancy- I can't wait for a belly- I love them!! We are so excited and the girls are well.. Elated and completely overwhelmed with bliss to put it lightly :) Beck may have to get used to the idea- he thinks it is going to be a Pet baby... that he can honk.

OK not OUR Cupcake recipe but a good one! :) This recipe comes from Good ol' Martha Stewart- we have made these before with a different cake recipe ( but the one here is good too!) and they are so fun and yummy!!! As you will see they are a bit tricky to make but well worth it!!! Have fun!

Hi -Hat Cupcakes

FOR THE BATTER

3 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened

1 1/4 cups sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup sour cream

FOR THE FROSTING

1 3/4 cups sugar

3 large egg whites

1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon almond extract

FOR THE CHOCOLATE COATING

2 cups chopped (about 12 ounces) semisweet chocolate

3 tablespoons canola or vegetable oil

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees with rack in center. Prepare the batter: Place chocolate in a medium heatproof bowl, and set it over a medium saucepan of barely simmering water; stir chocolate until melted and smooth. Remove bowl from heat, and set aside to cool slightly.

Meanwhile, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl; set aside.

In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream butter and sugar on medium speed, scraping sides of bowl as needed, until light and fluffy. On low speed, mix in melted chocolate. Increase speed to medium, and add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add vanilla, and beat until mixture is creamy and color has lightened slightly, about 1 minute. Mix in sour cream. On low speed, add half of reserved flour mixture, beating until just incorporated. Mix in 1/2 cup water. Add remaining flour mixture, and mix until just incorporated.

Fill each liner with enough batter to come 1/8 inch from top, about 1/3 cup. Bake, rotating pans halfway through, until tops are firm and a cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean, about 20 minutes. Transfer cupcakes to a wire rack to cool in pan for 10 minutes.

Prepare the frosting: In a large heatproof bowl, combine sugar, 1/4 cup water, egg whites, and cream of tartar. Using a handheld electric mixer, beat on high speed until foamy, about 1 minute. Set bowl over a pan of barely simmering water. Beat on high speed until frosting forms stiff peaks, about 12 minutes; frosting should register 160 degrees.on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla and almond extracts, and beat for 2 minutes more until frosting thickens.

Transfer frosting to a large pastry bag fitted with a 1/2-inch plain pastry tip. Leaving a 1/8-inch border on each cupcake, pipe a spiral of frosting into a 2-inch-high cone shape, using about 1/2 cup of frosting per cupcake. Transfer cupcakes to a baking sheet, and refrigerate while preparing the chocolate coating.

Prepare the chocolate coating: Combine chocolate and oil in a medium heat-proof bowl set over a medium saucepan of barely simmering water; stir until melted and smooth. Transfer to a small bowl, and let cool about 15 minutes.

Holding each cupcake by its bottom, dip cupcake in the chocolate to coat frosting, allowing excess to drip off. Transfer to a baking sheet fitted with a wire rack. Spoon more coating around edge of cupcake and any exposed frosting; none of the frosting should show. Let cupcakes stand at room temperature 15 minutes.

Carefully remove paper liners from cupcakes, and discard. Place cupcakes on a serving platter, and refrigerate for 30 minutes to let coating set. Cover, and refrigerate for 2 hours more. Serve cold. Cupcakes can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.

Well...Whimsy has a couple Big Soiree's coming up in April- more info on those later but they will be FABULOUS!

When we do big markets or big orders we usually have some cupcakes leftover and we would like to share the LOVE. Jen and I were talking and have come up with a rather wonderful plan! In the real world we encourage you to be a leader but... in the blogging world we encourage you to be a Follower!!! And there are some perks!

Here is how it will work! When we have extra cupcakes we will randomly pick a follower and you get the tasty little morsels free!- You wont be able to choose flavors it will just be what is left but they all taste superb!

How to become a follower??? well right under the our little owl to the right ( it is far down there) you will see - Cupcake addicts! And then under that is a box that says FOLLOW- click on it sign up and you too will have a little square right here on whimsy! :)

In addition we are having a little contest- like every other blogger- we love our followers- they make us feel all warm and fuzzy inside so... when we reach 100 followers- the 100 th will get 2 dozen mini cupcakes free- same for 200, 300 etc

( a Cupcakery can dream right! ) BUT if you are not the 100th don't give up hope because we will randomly choose others who will also win Free delicacies and don't forget the chances to win the extra ones- and we have those ALL THE TIME! So I can't believe my little man is almost 2! I took some picts in random places the other day for his invite and he is just such a charmer I had to show him off! :) He got to dive into his OWN and rather massive Whimsy Cupcake - just for Picts! What a lucky guy! :)

He is Superbly and Fantastically wonderful! In other words he is the Best and thought of rather fondly around these parts- :)

Ok- So all of my picts are from http://www.bakerella.com and the recipe and lots of other really fun things to bake so you need to check it out BUT I did just make this and I am rather proud of myself!!!! I didn't have a chance to take pictures because as I was making this I was also making another cupcake cake and watching 5 little hoodlums run all over the house :) The cutest little Hoodlums ever but never the less -still hoodlums yesterday :) I made 12 layers and it turned out pretty good!!! Mine was of course not this beautiful- it seems nothing I make from bakerella is "as beautiful" but that's OK- it tasted great and you could hardly notice

that it was slanting HARD to the left! :)

This cake is not really hard but it is time consuming... You start with 12-14 pans however many layers you want. Make your batter-I used Whimsy's secret recipe :) but Bakerella has a recipe that would be tasty too.

Seperate your batter into your pans which by the way I greased, floured, then cut wax paper circles which I greased and floured- I wasn't taking any chances!!!! Spread your batter around as even as you can then bake for appropriate time. As you finish your last 3 -I baked 3 at a time- start the fudge frosting- really it reminds me more of hot fudge- it is yummy! You put a layer of cake down pour some on top- put another layer pour on top etc... and it will start to DRIP and DRIP and DRIP... And if you happen to make this with 5 little hoodlums running around also this part they can absolutely not resist!!! Lots of fingers will be coming your way so be prepared!!!

After you finish all layers and dump the rest on top it should be covered pretty well. I also made a chocolate buttercream and slathered it ALL OVER it- and VOILA......

DELECTABLE!!!!!

If you want one of these- you will have to make it-

Whimsy will not be adding this to their menu! :)

* Pink Lemonade : A light and fluffly lemonade cake topped with pink lemonade frosting.

* Strawberry Shortcake: Fresh strawberry cake toppped with strawberry buttercream and a dollop of vanilla buttercream rolled in red and pink fancy's.

* Luscious Lemon: Sweet Lemon cake topped with Lemon Zest buttercream

*Carrot: Traditional Carrot cake topped with cream cheese Frosting

* Creamsicle: Lightly flavored Orange Zest cake topped with fresh orange vanilla buttercream

* Cookies n Cream: Chocolate cake topped with Oreo vanilla buttercream and Oreos.

* RootBeer Float: A light and fluffy vanilla cake with hint of rootbeer topped with root beer buttercream and a dollop of vanilla buttercream.

*Coconut Lemon: Coconut lemon cake topped with Sweet lemon Zest buttercream.

WHIMSY CLASSICS

* Breakfast at Tiffany's : Chocolate cake with a hint of coconut topped with blue coconut buttercream and edible gems.

*Death by Chocolate: Chocolate cake topped with chocolate buttercream, chocolate shavings and drizzled with chocolate ganache!

*PinK a Licious: Madagascar vanilla bean cake with a sweet vanilla buttercream topped with fancy's- all pink of course!

*Thin Mint: Chocolate cake with a hint of mint topped with sweet mint buttercream and chopped andes mints then drizzled with ganache - a combo that was mint to be!

*Whimsy classic: Your choice of madagascar vanilla bean cake topped with chocolate buttercream and classic sprinkles.

No Red Velvet for you!- (said in a Mr. Soup Nazi middle eastern voice...) C'mon!!! You guys still remember Seinfield- it's Classic! Well I am sorry to dissappoint anyone but alas it is true- we do not make red velvet. Why? many may be wondering. Well because it is essentially chocolate cake with a bottle or two of red dye dumped in and quite frankly that makes me feverish just thinking about it -especially knowing what I now know about dyes and how they ruin your kidneys and are just awful for your brain and your body. So NO red velvet from Whimsy- Sorry! And it brings up another point- we are changing our colorings to natural, safe colorings. You of course still have a choice -the natural may not be as bright but they don't ruin any fundamental organ systems in your body so that must count for something! We have not recieved them yet so I guess you don't have the option yet but soon you will- hopefully by next week. In my recent research for my own knowledge and fabulous food classes (anewyouhealthy.blogspot.com) I have discovered a lot about dyes and how bad they really are for you and how they are in EVERYTHING!!! I will not sell something I don't want to devour - even if it is just occasionally -you know with the healthy eating and all :) SO unless you tell us otherwise we will use the safe, natural colorings- NO red dye 40, which by the way we have never, ever used in frosting but these others yes... red 3, yellow 5, Blue 1- those are the ones in our dyes however the list could go on and on and unfortunately the rancid little things are in everything- go check the back of your food labels- you'll see! But these dyes are in any candies or sprinkles that may top our tasty little morsels. You can choose to not have them or have just sanding sugars ( still dye not as much) or whatever you want but we want you to know you do have a choice. Unless you tell us otherwise we will still deck them out but the frosting will be made with natural safe dyes. Because Yes... Whimsy cares!!! So there you have it! But don't be remiss -if you want the other dyes- just don't care or maybe they are for your wedding and you really want bright fuschia- whatever the reason If you want them you got them so no worries- there is just another option for those that do care. You know us...Just Trying to make everyone happy ALL of the time! :)

One more thing... Valentines

Valentines is fast approaching and we have a lot of orders already- we may have to cut you off soon so if you are craving Whimsy or want to delight a loved one let us know soon!!!! Oh and since valentines is on Sunday we would make them Sat and you would need to pick them up Sat- they will of course be every bit as moist and delicious the next day. :)

Working For Haiti

I have been trying to think of a great idea to help Haiti and really get the kids involved and a friend shared what I thought was a fantastic idea so our family is starting this week. We don't do allowance at our house- granted we have a 5, 4 and 22 month old :) but jobs are part of being a part of the family -everyone doing their share and helping out and not expecting anything for it. But this week is different. We had family night and talked all about Haiti and what happened there and how they need a lot of help right now and how we CAN help them. We showed them lots of pictures and this great video on youtube- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxpWiCD0zrI you should check it out. My girls kept saying -mom is this real? in OUR world? This is really happening? I think it is so important for them to understand the world- the good and the bad and realize they have great power and that they can help- as a 5 year old they can help and they CAN make a difference. So we are making a job chart this week- daily chores and ones that maybe don't get done all that often (toilets!) and there is a money value attatched. Everyday when jobs are done that person gets to mark their initials by it and at the end of the week we will add up the total and donate what we worked for to Haiti. Well Whimsy wants to help too so whoever buys cupcakes this week will will donate a portion to Haiti. Better Yet send the money you would have bought cupcakes with to Haiti and next time you buy cupcakes tell us you did and we will throw in some Free.

Where MUCH is given- MUCH is expected.

Le PIANO- A Masterpiece
I found an old player piano at a yard sale a few years ago with the Grand Vision of painting it and it is finally done!! It has taken countless hours ( since June), lots of paint and lots of fun!! I did the front with some help from Cam and Erik. The bottom part however I did that all by myself- you know that part that looks like Vangough Starry Night EXCEPT it is MY version and it is Sunny sunny sky :). The girls had free reign on the back- they did it all- I couldn't even see it until they were done- although they did ask for help with the tree branches. They were giddy with excitement! We LOVE it!!! I find myself sneaking down to play it only to find my girls have beat me! They love to play around on it all day and can play a mean twinkle twinkle little star! On top are lots of clouds. The bench is awesome too- all sky blue of course- a big sun, flowers and an apple tree with a swing-naturally, nice big puffy clouds and all of our handprints- maybe I will post those later . The Piano is AWESOME and I love it so I had to show it off! :)

I must allege that Whimsy's Playlist is definately Marvelous and teetering on prodigous (that is super fancy for fantastically fabulous) . I made this playlist so I would have some dank melodys to Enthrall me whilst I baked but I had no idea it would be this Phenomenal ! ALL the songs are excellent but as you get more towards the middle it gets rather remarkable here is a sampling of what you may hear while hanging out at whimsy- the killers, some SArah, COld PLay, a little bit of beth orton, Tori and Ani difranco- I need to get more from those gals, a couple random things from some amazing sound tracks, toad the wet sprocket, BIG Head Todd and the monsters, EaRLY November,David Gray, old school MJ, Frou Frou, the Cure, Snow patrol,

Jacks manequin, owl city ( i liked these guys years ago BTW), MGMT, Elliot Smith, Youth Group, Lisa LOeb--OF course there are many more artists that would enhance this list, but this is a pretty good playlist if I do say so myself!!! - SO if you have only hung around long enough to hear the first few songs- go ahead take a day and let those eustachian tubes resonate! They will thank you for it later!!! ENJOY!!! Oh yeah and now you can order cupcakes.... we are now officially off sabatical :)

HEALTHY Cooking Class- WHAT??

I am finally starting my blog for Healthy Cooking Classes!
I know, I know ...
What about those Cupcakes you make? Well my sis and I do make Wonderfully Scrumptious cupcakes that are not healthy in any way for you ( well some do have carrot ribbons)- but that is not how me or my family eat 99% of the time- so I feel ok about the 1% especially if we munch on a leaf of KALE afterwards!! :) I am trying to create a super healthy cupcake that tastes great and I am getting closer- it is the frosting that is so tricky! So hopefully a healthy choice will be on the menu at Whimsy soon!

Weddings are a lot of FUN!!!!! We had our first wedding last week and it went FABULOUS!!!
Seriously cupcake towers may well be the next big thing for wedding cakes! It was so EXqUisiTe- we couldn't get a good pict to really show it off but it was GRanD! ( we may be a bit biased)-ANyways it was a huge ( 4 ft at least) tall white antiqued iron tower full of cupcakes- what could be better!!! the Tower is so unique - can't say I have seen many towers around lately AND lots better than all that left over wedding cake no body wants to eat- why not have lots of cupcakes instead!!! We have been asked ALOT about wedding prices so we are figuring up some packages and we will post soon! She had the tower for her wedding cake and then a bunch of minis for the guests- of course all arranged marvelously on stands -Superb! :)
